After being tested few weeks ago, Ford unveiled it's new track only version of the GT super car, GT MK II at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in U.K. With twin turbo V-6 engine, it has the power of 700-hp.
The road version of this model was not track competent as it was made according to the different road conditions of different geographic. The components required for other purposes also was reducing the efficiency of the car. So the designing team re design the model with much lower ground clearance, compact interior and reducing different driving modes.
Ford team said that they will be making only 45 custom MK II of worth $1.2 Million. The production will be done at the FORD GT factory.
The concept of this model was came to unlish the true potential of Ford GT.
What if, asked Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s chief product development officer, “we could unleash the full performance potential of the Ford GT without any artificial performance limitations dictated by racing sanctioning bodies?” Well, the result would be the GT Mk II, the wildest combination of power and performance ever to wear the Blue Oval.
Designed solely for the track but without regard to any racing rule book, the Mk II boasts the street car’s engine – in this case, massaged to 700 horsepower with water-jet-cooled inter coolers, a straight-through exhaust system and new pistons – mated to the race car’s chassis.
Not to say that this has set a new standard of the upcoming automobiles.
